It must matter if a celebrity says it

Perhaps one can explain to me, why athletes and celebrities use their fame as a bully pulpit more often than a community outreach.  My opinion of the world outlook, of political affairs and policies, nor should yours, be influenced by a celebrity.

Have we become that devoid of free will and common sense that we have to use the opinions of paid entertainers/athletes, most of whom have no relative concerns like we do, to make our choices for us?  The majority of them are so out of touch of modern society.  They don't have to worry about making sure the bills are paid for the month.  Or what would happen if we have an emergency, what bill can I skip or pay late to pay for that emergency repair on the car or the house?  We let them patronize us, using their fame to preach in condescending terms to the masses.

Their altars of TV and various internet websites.  Late night desks and monologues.  For some strange reason, the majority seem ok with this.  To let someone do all their critical thinking for them, while they blindly go by.  Letting Big Brother take more and more liberties away, while Uncle Sam steals more and more of our paycheck.  Going to programs that benefit their own needs to get re-elected and keep people dependent on them.

This election cycle has become an election of labels and endorsements.  Ideology instead of actual ideas.  Contempt instead of compromise.  Common sense has been replaced by ignorance and ineptness.  Sad to see such a decline
