I lift things up and put them down...
In the last year, it has been a year of reflection. Looking in the mirror, and seeing more and more of what I didn't like, literally. I noticed by body was certainly in shape, round. Seriously, I felt horrible looking at myself. I decided to make a change. Unfortunately at the same time, the bottom of my sales dropped out and my paychecks and incremental spending also went. I couldn't afford it. So, everyday I made myself disgusted looking at myself in the mirror, still indulging in the same stupid eating habits while feeling sorry for myself. So, when it came to Christmas, and my grandmother yelling at me because I didn't ask for anything, I said "You can get me a gym membership."
To make a long story short, she did.... the end...Ok, that won't work because I going to bore you with MORE details.
I decided to pace myself at a reasonable pace. 3 days a week. 1 to 1 1/2 hrs a week. I started off simple the first day, it was 20 minutes on treadmill and 15 on elliptical. I didn't exactly hit that hour off and I was puffing like a fool. Thankfully, it's gotten better.
I start off with 30 minutes on the treadmill, level 4 on the weight loss setting. Which has periods of incline at 6% and increased speeds up to 4.0 mph. Gets my muscles loose and the heart rate slightly increased. Then I move to the elliptical, another 30 minutes. Level 2, which seems to get me working up a pretty decent sweat. Depending on how sore I am or tired I am from work, I'll use either the stair machine at level 10 or an exercise bike for about 10 minutes to top it off.
At the end of the cardio/weight loss stuff, I go to some weight machines. The first one I use is the
FreeMotion EPIC Fly/Rear Delt machine. I started off with a measily 55 lbs. What can I say, all my strength is in my legs. I did 4 sets of 5 reps. Now, I am up to 85lbs and doing 3 sets of 10 reps.
Next machine I move to Freemotion EPIC Chest. With this, I do 3 reps of 5 each, sustaining full extension at 5 seconds each. I started at 55lbs, and have moved up to 65lbs. If it's available, I'll end it with FreeMotion EPIC Shoulder. 3 reps of 10 each at 60 lbs. These are all machines that our local Planet Fitness uses, that I use.
While, it's not huge or overwhelming, it's suiting me for now. I want to tone op my shoulders/pecs which the machines are good at focusing for. I'm building up my cardio stamina and will increase my levels as I feel comfortable doing. I'm TRYING to improve my diet, since that's the numero uno #1 key factor to this whole thing. I admit to now having the will power to completely change everything cold turkey, but I'm trying.
